Five students from Bhutan have been trained as journalists since the start of the SAF-Madanjeet Singh scholarship in 2002. The scholarship is awarded to a young woman and a young man with a passion for journalism.
They can choose to study in Print Media or Broadcast Media streams. They live and work together with other students from South Asian countries in a spirit of harmony and cooperation.
The selection for the SAF-Madanjeet Singh scholars is made by the SAF Chairperson assisted by the advisory board.
The scholarship covers the tuition, living and travel expenses of the selected student for the duration of the ACJs ten-month Post Graduate Diploma course.

 | | In the beginning the scholarships for the School of Visual Arts at Beaconhouse National University lasted only one year, but it became clear that some candidates wanted to complete their Diploma so the opportunity was given to them to continue.
In June 2007 the first batch will be graduating with their Diplomas in Visual Art. The scholarship takes care of the tuition, travel and living expenses of the students who, along with their colleagues from the SAARC countries, study and live together.
BNU welcomes new forms of visual experience which require experimental and lateral thinking. Together with ScAD (the School of Architecture and Design), we encourage a multi-disciplinary approach as a way to explore the connections between art and different branches of knowledge in the humanities and sciences.
Our rigorous curriculum focuses on the development of each student, ensuring a strong skill and intellectual base. We strive to make certain that students are visually articulate and self-motivated with the confidence to express their ideas.
Providing a supportive atmosphere where promising individuals can achieve their creative potential is a matter of priority for the School.
